Let us not get on a pointless censorship jag. Thanks.

Again, we have no information on language versions yet. When we do, you'll be able to read about it on the Game Information page.

Ahhhh, now I get it. It is my confusion between Blight and blight.

I checked with the font of all DAO knowlege (David Gaider) and this is what he said:
Quote: The darkspawn spread a corruption that is called either "the taint" or "the blight" -- separate from the big-B Blight which is the event of the darkspawn spilling onto the surface.

The sickness will eventually either kill those it afflicts or turn them into ghouls, but no -- it doesn't turn people into darkspawn.

So, yes, there is a sickness that no one wants to be a part of. That would be the "little b" blight that accompanies a darkspawn invasion. The darkspawn invasion is the "big B" Blight.

Now we know, and knowing is 1/2 the battle. smile smile

Hmm... there seems to be some misunderstanding about "infection" and "contagion" and such (possibly mine). I better check with DG before I go farther with this.

I wonder where the notion that "the Blight" is contagious came from?

All we have revealed about The Blight is up on the World page but I'll copy it below to save time.

Quote: The Blight

The Chantry teaches that it is the hubris of men that brought the darkspawn into our world. Mages sought to usurp Heaven, but were cast out, twisted by their own corruption, only to return as monsters--the first of the darkspawn. They plague the underground caverns and tunnels once inhabited by the dwarven kingdoms. When they discover one of the Old Gods, ancient dragons slumbering in the depths of the earth, it rises as an archdemon to lead the darkspawn as they spread like locusts across the surface lands, destroying all in their path: a Blight. It has been four centuries since the last Blight, but the darkspawn are amassing once again.

As you can see "The Blight" is the term for a legion of darkspawn cutting a swath of destruction across the surface world being lead by an archdemon. I'm not sure where the idea that "The Blight" was some sort of disease came from, but it isn't correct.

Well, we've reached 10 pages so this gets closed now.

But don't worry. This time I'm a female mage with a mind for romance. We'll see what I get up to and if I drop any more hints in the future. wink smile

I will say this again, it IS NOT a rough estimate. It works on his system currently but may not in the very next build of the game. Just becuase his PC works on a build that was ready back on Dec 18 DOES NOT mean his PC will run the game when it is done.

If you base any sort of idea on Brian's system you are NOT basing it on a system that will play DAO becuase we do not yet have the specs for a system that will run DAO.

I urge everyone to be EXTREMELY cautious if they see Brian's specs and use them as any sort of basis.

I think chris said that most of the game was complete and that the hardware specifications are set in stone now.

No. I never said any such thing.

Brian should not have commented on his system as NOTHING is set in stone yet as far as technical specs are concerned. The game is still not finished, there are all sorts of optimizations, added sound and graphic tweaks, etc that still need to be added, removed, changed, etc. This is why I had to ignore the requests for my home system specs as I did not want to even vaguely hint at wht may or may not be able to play DAO. If you are waiting to upgrade your PC or buy a new card or more ram or whatever, please wait until we better know the minimum and recommended system specs.

When we do have something concrete, we will make it known on the game info page as well as here on the forums. Until then, please, do not think that Brian's system is good, bad, ok or whatever.

Sorry, we have no word on any form of digital distribution. Should any form be announced, you will be able to read about it here on the Dragon Age Origins pages.

I don't think the back-and-forth is really necessary, guys. People are allowed to criticize Bioware or DA as much as they care to, so long as they are being polite and constructive.

Someone who registers to a forum just to say the equivalent of "X sucks!" is not being critical. They are being a troll. It's pretty simple. I suggest we move on.
