300 years ago, Ferelden was taken over in some fashion? (Cailan was the first king to be born in a free ferelden in 300 years.)

Hmm... I'll have to get that fixed. It should read that he was the first king to be born in a free ferelden in 100 years, not 300. It was Cailan's great-grandfather King Darlan who lost the war against Orlais, causing (yes, you are correct) almost a century of Orlesian occupation.

Anyway- we have this situation. The Blight struck everyone and weakened the Ferelden empire. Possible everyone in Thedas fought the blight. Is the "entry" of the Blight, or where it strikes from consistent? Is it possible that the blight first struck Ferelden and spread north to Orlais, and the Fereldens struck a very mighty blow with great losses which allowed the Orlesians to win their war against them and be relatively unaffected by the blight?

There's never been a Blight centered in Ferelden before. The previous ones all started further north. The Orlesian conquest of Ferelden a century ago actually had no relation to the darkspawn at all.

Orlesians also believe in the Chant of Light and therefore have the same beliefs as the Fereldens about darkspawn.

Quote: How many blights have taken place in terms of historical perspective?

This will be the fifth one.

Does this mean the Orlesians spread the Chantry to Ferelden? Or that there's no pope-like figure in the Chantry to disapprove of them enslaving a nation that follows the same religion?

It was an Orlesian emperor who made the Chantry into an organized religion. Before that, those who believed in Andraste's message were pretty much scattered throughout Thedas. This was a long time ago, by the way. Long before Orlais took over Ferelden.

The Chantry does have a pope-like figure--the Divine. However the Divine is Orlesian. She may have supported the occupation of Ferelden, or perhaps she did not have the power to stop it.
